How does your payment system work?
When you buy from shops you pay after the quotation. If you want to make a bid, you must first make a deposit into your account. This deposit can be used for all payments to YokoMarket and for international shipping. You can also withdraw your money from your YokoMarket account if you don't need it immediately.
When do I have to pay for purchased items and shipping fees?
When want to order goods from Japanese online shops, our staff will first check your order and will send you a quotation. If you are happy with the quotation, you can proceed with the payment. If you want to bid on Yahoo! Auctions, you should first deposit funds that are no less than your maximum bid amount. Once your items arrive at our warehouse and we pack them, we will bill you for international shipping.
What methods of payment are available? Which one is preferable?
You can pay by debit card or credit cards like Visa, Master Card, American Express or Maestro. You can also use PayPal and International bank transfer. If you make small payments, the fastest and the cheapest method is PayPal or a credit card. For deposits of more than 100,000 Yen, it is cheaper to make an international bank transfer. This will take 3-4 days.
How much money should I deposit?
If you want to purchase goods from Japanese online shops and auctions, you must deposit enough money to cover the quote and international shipping fees. If you want to make a bid on an auction, you must deposit enough funds to cover your maximum bid, the YokoMarket service fee of 1 USD plus enough for shipping within Japan and international shipping. All prices are shown in YEN, but can I pay in US$ or any other currency?
We accept only Japanese yen, but you can pay in any convertible currency that you like. This is because when you pay by debit or credit card or PayPal, all your payments are automatically converted to Japanese Yen.
How can I check all of my payments?
All of your payments and refunds are displayed in the "Payments" tab on your account page.
Are there any payment fees?
This is dependent on the payment method. For PayPal, credit cards, and debit cards it is 2.9% + 40 Yen. For international bank transfers, we don't charge you anything, but you must pay the bank transfer fee at your bank.
Why do I have to pay PayPal fees?
Sellers very often hide credit card fees in the price of an item and you think that you have not paid a fee. making them higher. YokoMarket works as a buying service and charges only 300 Yen per item. So, we don't hide fees. This is the reason why we charge payment fees.
How do you calculate PayPal commission? I added 2.9% but got another amount.
PayPal takes 2.9% + 40 Yen commission from your payment. For example, if your item costs 1000 yen, it is not enough to count 2.9% of 1000 yen and add it. If you do so you will get 1029 yen. But if you pay 1029 yen, PayPal will charge 2.9% from 1029 yen (not from 1000 yen), and ZenMarket will get only 999 yen. This is why your calculations might be a bit different.
What is the conversion rate to Japanese Yen from my local currency?
Currency conversion rates change daily. Your deposit is automatically converted from your local currency to Japanese Yen by PayPal. You can check the conversion rate on the PayPal web-site. The currency conversion rate from USD to JPY which is displayed on our site is only for reference. If you pay by International bank transfer, your payment will be converted to JPY at the current rate of exchange at your local bank on the day that you make the transfer. We will add to your deposit exactly the amount which comes to our account in JPY, not the amount which was displayed on the payment screen.
How long does it take for money to reach my account?
For bank cards and PayPal, your payment will be automatically added to your account in about 2 minutes. Sometimes PayPal may check your payment for 24 hours if it looks suspicious. If 24 hours passed and your deposit is still not shown, please contact us. If you pay by international bank transfer it may take 3-4 days. If you are going to make an international bank transfer, please inform us of this so that we can identify your payment faster.
Can you refund any extra money left over from my deposit?
We can refund money that is left over from your deposit within 60 days from your last deposit only if you paid with PayPal. The refund amount should not exceed the total amount of your payments made through PayPal during the last 60 days. If this happens, the PayPal fee will be also refunded to you. To get a refund, go to the payment tab on "My Account" and click on the "Withdraw" button. Refunds are made manually, so it may take a few of days to process.
Do I lose money by paying several times?
If you make several payments by PayPal, you will lose an additional 40 yen for each payment. The PayPal fee of 2.9% is taken from the whole amount and doesn't depend on payment times.
Can I buy on credit?
Our frequent customers can make payments for some amount on credit. The credit amount depends on your purchases during the last 6 months. Customers who have credit, can buy goods or make bids on Yahoo! Auctions on credit. However, no items will be shipped to a customer who has a negative account balance.
I see negative numbers in my deposit. How is this possible?
Sometimes additional expenses are charged after purchasing. For example, when you buy items on auctions, in most cases domestic delivery fees and bank transfer fees are charged after you win. If your expenses exceed your deposit, your account will show a negative balance.
